The Nederlander Organization, which owns nine Broadway theatres, filed a $35-million suit against Local One, alleging that the strike against its theatres constitutes an "unlawful secondary boycott." Producers of the shows in those theatres joined the suit. Nederlander has its own expired contract with the union, but it had not imposed new work rules, as had the other two theatre owners, Jujamcyn and the Shubert Organization, which spurred the strike action.
