Obama will have to impose martial law and nationalize major segments of our economy, probably also declaring that gold ownership is illegal, as FDR did in the 30s. Why did the promotion of communism and Taiwanese independence become taboos in the Martial Law era ... But during the Martial Law era, the KMT portrayed dangwai (outside the KMT, ~) activists, overseas pro-independence activists and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) as the three-in-one enemy of the state ... This was the factor that forced the KMT to lift martial law and the ban on political parties in the 1980s, a result that could not have been achieved by any one cause alone. Rule by law or dictatorship?  Jul 2, 2008
Choose wisely, America, as to if you believe in the Constitution, or if you believe that individual rights should be abandoned by executive decree, as it was in Nazi Germany, and martial law is the way of the future for America. Like those who signed the Declaration of Indepen-dence on July 4, 1776, I have made my choice. (La Crosse Tribune, WI)
