    The Medford Firefighters Local 1032 went before city officials last week to weigh in on a proposed home rule petition to extend full salary benefits to city employees in an active tour of combat with the U.S. armed forces. Where presently the city pays the difference between a deployed employee s base salary and his or her military pay, the petition would up the city s contribution to 100 percent of base salary.     Most recently, Mr. William Dery, a Hamilton resident, collected over 200 signatures to form a citizens home rule petition and have a special Town Meeting to vote on his proposal, which is basically to provide tax relief for the house poor seniors. He also requested, along with others, that the Town Meeting be held during the day on Saturday so that the elderly and those who can t drive at night could attend. (Hamilton Wenham Chronicle, MA)
